SEOUL, August 20 (AJU PRESS) -Chinese Premier Li Qiang is set to embark on a diplomatic journey to Russia and Belarus from Aug. 20 to 23. This visit comes at the invitation of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko.

In Russia, Li will lead the 29th regular meeting between Chinese and Russian heads of government. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized the importance of this meeting in implementing agreements between the two nations' presidents and coordinating practical cooperation, particularly in cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

The visit to Russia will include in-depth discussions between Li and Mishustin on bilateral relations, practical cooperation, and mutual interests. Mao noted that China-Russia relations have remained stable despite external challenges.

In Belarus, Li will engage in talks with Prime Minister Golovchenko, focusing on bilateral relations and cooperation across various sectors. Mao highlighted the recent strengthening of China-Belarus relations, including increased political trust and progress in Belt and Road initiatives.

Experts view this diplomatic effort as a continuation of agreements reached during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to China in May. Wan Qingsong, from East China Normal University, sees it as a concrete step in implementing these earlier discussions.

The annual meeting between Chinese and Russian heads of government, established in 1996, is seen as complementary to leadership summits. Cui Heng, a scholar from Shanghai, notes that these meetings typically focus on economic affairs and practical cooperation projects.

Li's visit is anticipated to cover a broad range of topics, potentially deepening and expanding bilateral cooperation between China and its partners.
