The company said the Kairos rocket will be launched from its spaceport in western Japan. The first Kairos rocket exploded in midair in March after an onboard computer executed a self-destruction order.
Established in 2018 by Canon Electronics Inc., IHI Aerospace Co. and other entities, Space One aims to commercialize space delivery services by reducing costs and offering regular rocket launches. The company operates Japan's first private sector spaceport in Wakayama Prefecture, near Osaka.
Space One, the first Japanese enterprise to develop a rocket exclusively with private support, targets sending 30 rockets annually into space by the 2030s.
