SEOUL, Sept. 06 (AJP) - Dubai, already home to the world’s tallest skyscraper, will soon welcome the second tallest with the construction of Burj Azizi. The project began in January, though its exact height remained undisclosed until authorities, including the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), approved it. Recently, Azizi Developments confirmed that Burj Azizi will rise to an impressive 725 meters (2,379 feet), making it the second tallest building in Dubai, just behind the Burj Khalifa, which stands at 830 meters.
Despite being almost 105 meters shorter than Burj Khalifa, Burj Azizi will surpass Marina 101 to become Dubai’s second tallest structure and exceed the height of Malaysia’s Merdeka 118, currently the world’s second tallest. The 131-story skyscraper will feature luxury apartments, a seven-star hotel, and a vertical shopping mall spanning seven floors.
Located on Sheikh Zayed Road, in Dubai’s World Trade Center district, Burj Azizi is set to break several world records. These include having the world’s highest hotel lobby, nightclub, and observation deck. It will also host Dubai’s highest restaurant, surpassing the Burj Khalifa’s At.mosphere, and the city’s highest hotel room.
The developer has invested over 6 billion dirhams ($1.6 billion) into the project, which aims to become a landmark that reflects Dubai’s status as a premier destination. The tower’s construction is well underway, with the foundation work in progress.
Dubai is known for its iconic structures and already leads the world in the number of buildings taller than 300 meters. In addition to Burj Azizi, several other projects are in development, including the Franck Muller Aeternitas Tower, which aims to be the tallest residential clock tower, and the Ciel Dubai Marina, set to be the world’s tallest hotel. Another standout project, Burj Binghatti Jacob & Co Residences, is poised to become the world’s tallest residential building.
Burj Azizi is expected to be completed by 2028, with apartments going on sale in February 2025.
