SEOUL, October 10 (AJP) - Israeli forces killed four Palestinians in Nablus, in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. A fifth person was wounded during the attack, which local media reported was carried out by Israeli Special Forces in central Nablus.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa said an undercover Israeli unit discreetly entered the city and opened fire on a vehicle carrying the victims. The wounded individual is being treated for shrapnel injuries to the head and chest, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Palestinian factions have called for a general strike in Nablus on Thursday in response to the attack.

Israeli media, including Haaretz and Army Radio, reported that five people were killed in the operation, citing military and security sources.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the four victims as Abdulhamil Nasser, 43; Selim Abu Saadah, 41; Naim Abdulhadi, 32; and Issam Salaj, 31.

Hamas condemned the attack, calling it a "cowardly" act and vowed that such violence would only strengthen Palestinian resistance.

Since June 2021, Israel has conducted almost daily raids in the West Bank targeting armed groups. These operations have intensified since the outbreak of conflict with Gaza in October 2023. Since Oct. 7, 2023, at least 747 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, with over 6,200 injured. The UN also noted that the majority were killed by Israeli forces, with some deaths caused by Israeli settlers.

A UN human rights expert recently warned of escalating violence due to Israel's increased military operations in the northern West Bank.
