SEOUL, October 11 (AJP) - Palestinian and Lebanese authorities have reported multiple strikes. A strike on a Gaza school sheltering displaced people killed at least 27, including a child and seven women, according to Palestinian officials. Israel continues to target what it says are militant sites in Gaza.

Later on Thursday, Israeli airstrikes in central Beirut killed at least 22 and injured 117, according to Lebanon's health ministry. In southern Lebanon, an Israeli tank fired on a UN peacekeeping base in Naqoura, wounding two peacekeepers, who were hospitalized.

The ongoing Israeli offensive in Gaza has killed over 42,000 Palestinians, with more than half of the victims being women and children, according to local health officials. The conflict has displaced around 90 percent of Gaza's 2.3 million residents.

A year ago, Hamas militants breached Israel's security barrier, attacking military bases and villages, killing around 1,200 civilians and abducting 250. About 100 captives remain in Gaza, with a third believed dead.

Israel is now engaged in conflict with Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, with Hezbollah launching rockets on Israel starting Oct. 8, 2023.
