SEOUL, October 23 (AJP) - A passenger vessel carrying around 90 people capsized off Myanmar's southern Tanintharyi region on Sunday, leaving 11 passengers dead and at least 12 missing, reports said.
Local residents told media that overloading of passengers and cargo likely caused the disaster, as the boat typically carries only 30 to 40 people.
Rescue efforts have been hampered by poor weather and communication conditions in the area, where maritime accidents are frequent due to deteriorating transportation infrastructure amid years of civil conflict.
