The 1,000-kilovolt Zhangbei-Shengli UHV AC project is set to transmit more than 70 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually, enough to power 19 million households each year, from Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia, and Zhangjiakou, Hebei, to Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Shandong, and Jiangsu provinces, among others.
This project uses UHV technology to link a clean energy hub in northern Hebei with wind farms in Xilin Gol League, expanding the share of new energy in UHV transmission channels and boosting green electricity consumption in receiving areas. It supports a transition to cleaner, low-carbon energy. The project also meets the growing electricity demand in these regions more efficiently.
China continues to lead in new energy power generation, UHV power transmission, flexible direct current transmission, and the digitization of electricity systems, according to a recent report by the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization, a non-profit based in Beijing.
