Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that this year marks 75 years of China-Russia diplomatic relations, adding the two countries' relationship shows strong and stable progress amid changing global conditions.
"We are grateful to our Chinese friends for their consistent support of Russia’s BRICS Chairmanship and, of course, we thank Chinese President Xi Jinping for visiting Russia to take part in the summit," Shoigu was quoted as saying by Russian state news agency TASS.
The two countries continue to uphold the principles of good-neighborliness, strategic coordination, and mutually beneficial cooperation, supporting the core interests of both peoples, Wang emphasized.
He added that China and Russia have consistently supported each other on critical national interests, fostering political trust and strengthening practical cooperation. Their relationship serves as a model for neighboring major countries and promotes unity within the Global South.
Following the consensus of their leaders, the China-Russia strategic security consultation aims to enhance coordination on overarching issues concerning security and development, Wang stated.
Wang also called for closer exchange and multilateral cooperation to support the steady progress of China-Russia relations and ensure their partnership contributes to global stability.
Shoigu expressed Russia's commitment to cooperating with China to implement the shared goals of their leaders, strengthen bilateral ties, and work together through multilateral platforms like the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS to further advance China-Russia relations.
