SEOUL, November 22 (AJP) - The Kenyan government has canceled procurement procedures for airport expansion and power transmission line construction projects involving India's Adani Group.
Kenyan President William Ruto directed agencies under the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum to cancel the procurement immediately on Thursday. He cited the indictment of Adani Group's Chairman Gautam Adani in the United States on charges of fraud and bribery as the reason.
Adani Group, India's largest logistics and energy company, had been pursuing a deal to modernize Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by adding a runway and terminals, in exchange for operating the airport for 30 years. The group was also involved in a power transmission line construction project in Kenya.
