A Chinese People's Liberation Army aircraft, carrying the remains and 495 personal items belonging to the soldiers, landed at Shenyang's Taoxian International Airport at 12:07 p.m.
The landing was marked by a water cannon salute. Soldiers carried the caskets from the plane, followed by a remembrance ceremony attended by nearly 1,000 people, including government officials, military representatives, war veterans, and relatives of the martyrs.
The caskets, draped in China's national flag, were placed at the ceremony site as attendees observed a moment of silence and bowed three times to honor the fallen soldiers. The remains will be interred at a martyrs' cemetery in Shenyang.
Earlier that morning, South Korea handed over the remains and belongings during a ceremony at Incheon International Airport. The Chinese national anthem was played, and each casket was similarly draped in the national flag. Officials and attendees bowed three times before the remains were placed on the aircraft.
Between 2014 and 2023, China and South Korea conducted 10 handovers involving the remains of 938 CPV soldiers, guided by international laws and humanitarian principles.
