LAS VEGAS -- Samsung Electronics disclosed its new vision "Together for tomorrow" to create greater value and actualize a sustainable future. The vision for the new age of togetherness was presented by CEO Han Jong-hee in a keynote speech at CES 2022, the world's largest annual electronics exhibition in Las Vegas.

Samsung will show how hyper-connected and customized experiences will connect consumers with family and friends, and create a sustainable world by living in harmony with the planet, Han said, adding that the new vision reflected sustainability in every project to achieve such innovative goals.

Samsung introduced "Everyday Sustainability," a concept that inspires Samsung to reflect sustainability at every project such as setting up a product lifecycle to minimize environmental damages. Han said such methods to secure sustainability would become part of consumers' product experiences.

Samsung sells some 500 million devices every year, Han said, stressing that the impact of the company's small changes on the world could be beyond imagination. He said Samsung is putting small changes in operation to provide consumers with an environmentally-friendly experience.

Samsung recycles materials that were used in several products such as BESPOKE refrigerators, Galaxy Buds, and QLED TVs. The electronic maker also plans to expand the use of recycled materials with all mobile and home appliances by 2025, and expand "Eco-Packaging" that upcycles packaging boxes to household items.

Samsung will expand the application of eco-friendly SolarCell Remote, which was first included in QLED products in 2021, to new TV products and household appliances that will be released in 2022. The function of SolarCell Remote is evolving to have a charging function. Solar cells can be charged even at night without sunlight.

Samsung will also establish more purposeful partnerships with other companies for a sustainable future. Technologies to minimize microplastics will be developed through cooperation with Patagonia, a global clothing company that markets and sells outdoor clothing. Han said he is looking forward to cooperation with Patagonia and other partnerships. This can be interpreted as a strategy to expand the "Together for tomorrow" vision through cooperation rather than competition between companies to establish a sustainable life.

Samsung's vision to actualize customized experiences and advanced connectivity through products and services was also presented.

Samsung will create a Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA) in partnership with global home appliance companies such as GE, Haier, Electrolux and Arçelik A.Ş. and establish internet of things (IoT) standards optimized for home appliances. The strategy is to strengthen the connectivity between products of many different brands so that consumers around the world can conveniently use home appliances through a home IoT platform.

Samsung's strategy can be realized as a "#YouMake" project. The hashtag project will actualize its vision to allow all consumers to choose products and services that suit their lifestyles. The company hopes to develop various products and services over the long term and expand customers' options for lifestyle through this plan which requires companionship with other companies.

In wrapping up his speech, Han said the future is very interesting and hopeful. Samsung will pursue a sustainable life through open innovation and cooperation, Han said, expressing his gratitude to the audience for building the future for smooth connectivity together.
