SEOUL -- Jimin, a member of BTS, became the boy band's fourth member to release his first solo album, after J-Hope, Jin, and RM. Although the group is taking a hiatus after its agency announced that all members would fulfill their compulsory military service, the 27-year-old has consistently interacted with fans by collaborating with fashion brand Dior and singer Taeyang.

"'FACE' is all about Jimin facing himself head-on as he gets ready for his next step as a solo artist," said Big Hit through Weverse, a fan community platform after announcing that the album will be released on March 24. The agency said the artist will showcase his unique features through the very first solo album.

Jimin has presented talents by collaborating with various artists. In January 2023, the artist participated in "VIVE," a song by BIGBANG member Taeyang. The music video for the song gained more than 15 million views on YouTube as of February 22. Jimin has earlier gained attention for solo songs such as "Lie" and "With You." In January 2023, he was selected as the global ambassador of Christian Dior, a France-based high-end luxury fashion brand known as Dior, to promote various fashion items and events.

Jimin is required to fulfill his mandatory military service in South Korea which is technically at war with North Korea. In South Korea, all able-bodied males who are 18 and older must do their mandatory military service for at least 18 months unless they have a valid reason for exemption. Jin, the eldest member of BTS, started his service in December 2022.
