Five foreigners were arrested on multiple charges of robbery amounting to an estimated 200 million won (US$175,000), police here said Monday.

Three Colombians and two Mexicans are accused of targeting cars containing large amounts of cash, including those with gift envelopes from weddings, police said. The suspects followed the vehicles after puncturing their tires and diverted the drivers' attention during the robberies, authorities said.

The suspects entered South Korea separately through airports in Seoul and Busan in March and used fake passports to rent cars, according to the police. They were found with copied cell phones, two-way radios and wigs used in the crimes. //Yonhap
