Lottery sales surpass government-set ceiling for second year

Sales of lottery tickets in South Korea amounted to 2.91 trillion won (US$2.71 billion) in the first 11 months of this year, surpassing the ceiling of 2.87 trillion won, according to governament agencies on Dec. 16.
Lottery sales in the country exceeded the cap presented by the National Gaming Control Commission for the second straight year, an indication that more people were engaged in gaming. In 2011, sales reached 3.1 trillion won.
