Kim Yu-na qualifies for Canada world championships in March

Figure skater Kim Yu-na won South Korea's national championships on Jan. 6 for her flawless free skating, qualifying for the 2013 World Championships to be held in March in Canada.

In the ladies‘ singles event of the 2013 Korea Figure Skating Championships held at Mokdong Ice Rink in western Seoul, Kim topped the free skating segment with 145.80 points, which brought the 22-year-old's total score to 210.77. She also led the short program the previous day with 64.97 points.

Park So-youn, 15, ranked second far behind Kim, by scoring 108.68 points in free skating and 161.88 points in total.

The third place went to Choi Da-bin, 12, who earned 99.88 points in free skating for a total of 153.09 points.

Kim, the 2010 Olympic gold medalist, won the NRW Trophy in Germany, in her first participation in an international competition in 20 months, in December 2012.
