S. Koreas December jobless rate reaches 2.9%, slightly up from previous month

South Korea's jobless rate stood at 2.9 percent in December, up 0.1 percentage point from the previous month's 2.8 percent, the country's statistics office announced on Jan. 9.

Statistics Korea said in a report that the jobless rate has been in the 2-percent range since September.

However, the office said, job growth slowed down, an indication that the tough labor market conditions remain unchanged.
