Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yu-na and U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon were chosen as top female and male role models by college students, respectively, a survey said Wednesday.
According to the survey of 138 male and 129 female students enrolled at Hanyang University, 25.3 percent of respondents voiced support for figure skater Kim. The survey was conducted by Kim Jae-won, a professor of economics at the university.
President Park Geun-hye came in second among female figures with 14.9 percent of support, followed by Han Bi-ya, a popular travel writer and advisor to the U.N. Central Emergency Response Fund (6.2 percent), rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae (4 percent) and former MBC TV anchorwoman Kim Ju-ha (2.6 percent).
When it comes to male figures, Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee ranked second with 11.8 percent, followed by Park Ji-sung, a midfielder of the top-division Dutch football club PSV Eindhoven (11.2 percent), independent lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo (9.2 percent), and top comedian and show host Yoo Jae-seok (8 percent).
