A final decision on the matter will be made in a shareholders’ meeting scheduled for July 4, the company.
However, the name "Samsung Cheil," will still be used, it said.
In early June, the company announced that it will go public on the country’s main bourse in the first quarter of 2015, a move that was construed as an intention to accelerate the group’s management succession to the next generation of the owner family.
The announcement came after Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee, 72, de facto head of the conglomerate, received treatment for myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, at a hospital in Seoul in May.
