The number of vehicles recalled in South Korea plunged 37.6 percent in 2014 from a year ago, data showed Tuesday.
According to the data compiled by the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, a total of 755,501 vehicles registered in the country were recalled for safety reasons last year, compared with 1.04 million units brought back for repairs in 2013.
The number of South Korean-made cars recalled last year totaled 635,273, down from 981,298 tallied a year ago. The comparable figure stood at 120,228 for foreign-brand vehicles, up from 55,853 imported cars recalled in 2013.
Ssangyong Motor and Renault Samsung Motors recalled about 110,000 vehicles and 24,103 units in 2014, respectively.
