Korean film "The Deal" tops local box office over weekend

South Korean film "The Deal" topped the local box office chart over the weekend, beating British spy-thriller "Kingsman: The Secret Service," the country's official box-office tracker said on Monday. 

"The Deal" attracted 409,404 viewers between Friday and Sunday, according to the state-run Korea Film Council (KOFIC). Its ticket sales accounted for 23.1 percent of the total box-office ticket sales nationwide.

"Kingsman" moved down one notch to second place with 388,776 viewers, followed by South African filmmaker Neill Blomkamp's latest sci-fi feature "Chappie" (328,827 moviegoers), U.S. drama film "Whiplash" (236,737 viewers) and South Korean movie "Socialphobia" (127,898 moviegoers), the KOFIC said.
