“The Priests”, an occult Korean film, has accumulated four million viewers on Friday. Its distributor CJ Entertainment confirmed.

Starring Kim Yun-suk and Kang Dong-won, which depicts a story about priests who seek to perform an exorcism to save a high school girl possessed by a demon.

The movie drew 1.4 million movie fans during its first weekend, which broke the million marks in three days of its opening, making the movie the record breaker for the “million markers in shortest period” in Korean Film history.

A movie columnist Kim Kyo-suk sees the popularity of The Priests is guaranteed by its actors Kim and Kang. “It is interesting to find The Priests break the mark so fast since exorcism is not a very popular genre in Korean film industry. But with the protagonists Kim and Gang’s ticket power and the movie’s fine plot overcame the jinx,” He said.

With The Priests second on the Korean box-office, the first is “Inside men” starring Lee Byung-hun.
