V. Sattui was originally found in 1885 by Vittorio Sattui who immigrated to San Francisco from Genoa, Italy. The original winery was located on Bryant Street in Mission District of San Francisco, California. In the beginning, Sattui and his sons made a 1 2-day-long trip each way between San Francisco and St. Helena in Napa Valley to get the wine grapes they needed. It seemed like everything was going perfectly as their business was booming. However, the Prohibition Law was passed in 1920, and Sattui was forced to close his winery and retire from wine business.

His great-grandson, Dario Sattui, returned from Europe in 1972 to restart his family's wine business. V. Sattui was reopened on March 4th, 1976 in Saint Helena of Napa Valley.

Today, V. Sattui is the world renown wine producer and award winner. The winery won "Winery of the Year" title many times and its Cabernet won "Best Wine in California" and "Best Wine of the Americas" awards numerous times.
