Chris Mahone, a 27-year-old man from Cleator Moor, UK, was excited to go have his bachelor party of his lifetime in Ibiza. Mahone and 30 of his friends excitedly arrived at the airport to take their flight only to find out the flight tickets that Mahone's fiance gave them were fake.
Mahone's ex-bride-to-be, Rachel Dora, told the unsuspecting victims that she will book their flights and hotel for them and had each pay $580 to her including her husband-to-be. However, she took the money, a total of $17,980, and ran off. She did give them fake flight tickets though to buy herself some time.t.t
After learning of the fake flight tickets, Mahone contacted an Ibiza hotel that Doran told them she booked and again found out there was no record of booking under his name. When Mahone and his friends called her at the airport, Doran played along at first claiming that there must have been an error and she even offered to pay for the flight tickets.
Doran then stopped responding and disappeared.
A friend of the couple told The Sun, a UK based news company, "She printed fake boarding passes and used a local travel firm's logo to put on the top of letters and tickets. It happened because she heard he'd cheated on her when he hadn't. She must have been planning her revenge for months, maybe a year. She's disgusting."
Doran's betrayal broke Mahone's heart. He posted on his Facebook page on the following day, "Well words cannot describe the pain and feels that are playing with my head today, I totally want to apologize to all my fantastic mates that were gonna celebrate what was supposed to be my stag do, I can't apologize enough, I'm sorry boys I really am, even got a message from the Sun news paper" with a picture of messages sent by a reporter from The Sun offering to pay for a trip that never took place.
Mahone ended up going to Ibiza 6 days after the incident with his loyal friends. His story and post went viral and many expressed their support and concern on his post.
It was later reported that thoroughly embarrassed family of Rachel Doran disowned her for scamming Chris Mahone and his friends.
