SEOUL -- Tada, a South Korean ride-hailing service operator, will no longer purchase diesel-fueled cars in an effort to minimize the emission of pollutants such as fine dust and other hazardous particles.

Currently, Tada operates a fleet of "Carnival", a diesel-fueled 11-seat multi-purpose vehicle, to provide ride-hailing services. Kia Motors released the gasoline version of its luxury MPV last month.

Tada said in a statement on Tuesday that it aims to become "diesel-free" by 2022 when the company finishes replacing its vehicles. Tada began its operation in October last year, targeting consumers who wish to travel around the city in large vehicles comfortably.

The company said it would adopt electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
