ANRA partners with Hyundai auto group to develop AAM operating environment

SEOUL --South Korea's Hyundai auto group partnered with ANRA Technologies, a U.S.-based cloud-based drone operational platform developer, to develop the operating environment for advanced air mobility, a new concept of air transportation using electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. They would identify research opportunities to help inform regulatory decisions and advance infrastructure projects.

Sometimes advanced air mobility (AAM) is called urban air mobility (UAM), although potential applications could extend beyond high-density urban centers to reach underserved communities and geographically distant regions.

ANRA will provide strategic insight into Hyundai's concept of operations for AAM airspace management and ground mobility integration. "We are pleased to partner with ANRA Technologies to begin building toward the safe and efficient integration of AAM into existing airspace," Pamela Cohn, chief operating officer of Hyundai's urban air mobility division, said in a statement.

Hyundai Chairman Chung Eui-sun has launched his drive to nurture urban air mobility (UAM), an ecosystem covering personal air vehicles (PAVs) or flying cars. PAVs are emerging as a future system of travel to avoid traffic jams on urban roads. Chung has called for a drastic structural change to become a key player in the production of PAVs.

ANRA offers intelligent and modular traffic management software capabilities as part of the SmartSkies family. "ANRA’s SmartSkies family of airspace management solutions have been proven worldwide and provide the critical support required for complex AAM operations at scale," said ANRA Technologies CEO Amit Ganjoo.

SmartSkies allows drone pilots to obtain approval for drone operations within controlled or sensitive airspace using a simple mobile application or web portal. It provides real-time, automated processing of airspace authorizations based on criteria set by stakeholders.

AAM aircraft operators require airspace management support to ensure safe and compliant operations at scale and conform to national and international regulatory requirements. SmartSkies microservices architecture enables AAM airspace management for UAM aircraft to easily scale and adapt to any region in the world.
