SEOUL -- Artificial intelligence artists collaborated with a human counterpart to create new artworks that reflect human emotions such as "love" and "hatred." Using machine learning technology that accumulates various data to imitate human artists, AI artists investigated links between texts and images to create new images that are displayed through a screen installed on an art sculpture created by a human artist.

The Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), a state research institute, said in a statement that two AI artists and Kang Si-ra, a media artist specializing in installation arts, has collaborated for an exhibition that is scheduled to be held in the southern port city of Ulsan in late March. "After I delivered sentences and words that reflected human emotions, I was faced with an unexpected image created by AI artists," Kang was quoted as saying.

An AI artist studied some 14 million images to create its own work while the other AI works on the verification of the AI-created artwork by studying the link that connects 400 million pairs of images and texts. Verified images were displayed through Kang's installation artwork. The project was led by Core.Today, a domestic AI startup that showcased a series of AI-generated artworks depicting a riverside park in Ulsan using the painting methods of famous artists in November 2021.
