KT partners with digital healthcare company to make foray into Vietnam's telemedicine market

SEOUL -- South Korea's top telecom company KT will work with HurayPositive, a domestic digital healthcare company, to make a foray into the Vietnamese telemedicine market. Using HurayPositive's chronic disease management know-how, KT hopes to popularize its remote medical service in Vietnam where many patients suffer from diabetes.
 
Through telemedicine services, doctors can provide healthcare for patients living in remote areas. Using phone or internet networks, they can diagnose patients and access medical records. In April 2022, KT partnered with a medical school in Hanoi to carry out the proof of concept (PoC) demonstration of a remote medical service platform for patients with chronic diseases.

An artificial intelligence-based medical solution will be developed for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and a self-care guide will be provided for diabetes and high blood pressure patients. About 5.5 percent of Vietnamese people aged from 20 to 79 have diabetes and 14 percent of the total population is prediabetic.
 
KT signed an agreement with HurayPositive to cooperate in the telemedicine business in Vietnam. KT’s telemedicine platform will focus on diabetes management. The telecom company will gradually expand its service to manage other chronic diseases such as high blood pressure. KT will collaborate with Vietnamese medical centers to test its service. 
 
"Starting with Vietnam, we will popularize South Korean digital healthcare capabilities overseas and create innovative customer experiences," KT's AI and digital transformation convergence business head Song Jae-ho said in a statement on May 12. 

HurayPositive operates different chronic disease management platforms. Users can figure out their cardiovascular status and improve daily habits to avoid related diseases. The company has worked with South Korean hospitals to develop digital treatment medical devices that can be used to change the lifestyle and habits of patients using virtual reality headsets and smartphones.
