The railway signaling system is crucial for locomotive engineers as it ensures that there is enough space between trains. A 24-kilometer (14.9 miles) long temporary track will be built to expand a railway system in Taoyuan, some 50 kilometers (31 miles) west of Taipei. The country's largest airport is located in the northwestern city.
LS Electric said in a statement on January 27 that the company was selected to establish the signaling system on a railway that connects Puxin station and Yingge station. "The Taiwanese market has been rapidly growing as the country is improving existing railway infrastructure and building new urban railways," an unnamed LG Electric official was quoted as saying. The company will expand its business scope to other Southeast Asian countries through a localization strategy.
LS Electric is the first South Korean company that made a foray into the Taiwanese railway industry in 2013 by building a signal system in a railway located in Taitung County in the southeastern region. In October 2022, the company won an order for the establishment of a railway power system project worth 270 billion won ($219 million) in the southern port city of Kaohsiung.
