SEOUL -- Le Sserafim, a girl band formed by BTS agency Hybe's music label Source Music, will interact with global fans at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, a popular music event held in California. The annual event is known for showcasing popular artists in indie rock, hip-hop, and electronic dance music.
Coachella is one of the largest music festivals in North America that attracted more than 200,000 fans every year. Along with K-pop girl band BLACKPINK, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny and Frank Ocean, an American songwriter and rapper, headlined last year's event. In 2024, the music festival will take place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, from April 12 to 14 and April 19 to 21.
Coachella said on Instagram that Le Sserafim will perform at the music festival on April 13 and April 20. This year's headliners include American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey, and Doja Cat, an American singer and rapper. K-pop boy band Ateez will also participate in the event on April 12 and April 19.
Le Sserafim is a multinational group with two South Koreans, two Japanese, and one American. The band's debut song "Fearless" entered the Billboard chart eight days after its release. As of January 17, 2024, the dance song's music video surpassed 176 million views on YouTube. Le Sserafim has also collaborated with Moroccan-born artist ABIR for "Sour Grapes," a song in its debut album, to expand its overseas fanbase.
The group has worked as a five-member group since May 2022 when member Kim Ga-ram was embroiled in her alleged school bullying. Source Music terminated the contract with the troubled member in July 2022.
