SEOUL, March 25 (AJU PRESS) -- "Klass," a digital Korean learning platform created by South Korea's Visang Education, has been adopted by 24 Vietnamese higher education institutes that offer Korean language courses. The Southeast Asian country has at least 40 colleges and universities providing Korean language programs.

Demand for the Korean language is exceptionally high in Viet Nam. As of June 2023, the number of Vietnamese students enrolled at South Korea's public Korean language institute, "King Sejong," reached 18,000, the highest among 85 countries. According to data released by Viet Nam's Hanoi University, its Korean language department had the highest admission score among all 25 majors in 2023 and 2024.

Klass (Korean Language Smart Solution) incorporates artificial intelligence technology to assist students in enhancing their Korean language proficiency. Using a touch screen and a smartpad, anyone can take classes without a human instructor. The platform offers access to quizzes and video recordings.

Visang announced on Monday that 24 Vietnamese higher education institutes with Korean language programs are currently using Klass. In the first quarter of 2024, the education technology company partnered with five additional universities to offer the solution -- Thai Nguyen University of Sciences, CMC University, Dai Nam University, the University of Danang, and FPT University. Visang said the smart solution was provided in response to the shortage of teachers.

Visang aims to expand its education business for Vietnamese elementary, middle, and high school students. Additionally, the company plans to help Vietnamese workers in South Korea improve their Korean language skills.

The adoption of education technology (edutech) is gaining momentum in South Korea. In 2011, South Korea's education ministry embraced technology in education by distributing tablet PCs to schools in remote rural areas. South Korea's education ministry unveiled its scheme to introduce AI digital textbooks starting in 2025. Data cited by domestic mobile carrier KT showed that the global edutech market which stood at $183 billion in 2019 is expected to reach $404 billion in 2025.
