SEOUL, May 16 (AJU PRESS) - Visang Education, a Korean educational company, said Thursday it showcased artificial intelligence-based Korean learning platforms at the largest education industry show in Japan last week.

The Korean company was among some 330 participants from five countries in the biannual Education Expo Japan (EDIX), held from May 8 to 10 in Tokyo.

At the forefront of Visang’s exhibits was its Master K platform, which incorporates various smart learning solutions, such as virtual classes and AI pronunciation tests, to enable remote lectures.

Visang seeks to bring digital learning solutions to the Korean learning market in Japan, which primarily relies on analog methods involving physical materials, the firm said.

"Demand for the Korean language and its status in Japan have been rapidly rising, with Korean language departments seeing the highest competition rates (among foreign language subjects) in university entrance exams," said Oh Hyeong-sik, head of Visang's Korean language division.

According to a 2023 survey conducted by DuoLingo, a global language learning app with over 40 million monthly active users, Korean was the second most popular foreign language among Japanese speakers after English. The survey of 4,700 Japanese-speaking people aged 15 to 59 found that about 25 percent of the respondents were studying Korean on DuoLingo.

Targeting the global education technology market, Visang has developed solutions that provide subjects such as math and English, in addition to Korean language solutions. Market research firm Grand View Research predicted that the global education technology market is projected to surge to $348.4 billion by 2030 from $142.3 billion in 2023.
