The North Face Hangeul collection draws inspiration from design concepts by Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Hyungwon Kang. Earlier this month, Kang spoke at a forum, emphasizing the need to revitalize obsolete Hangeul letters. He highlighted the historical and phonetic significance of these forgotten characters, which can represent any audible sound.
The Hangeul T-shirts come in basic colors like black and white. They're available online and at North Face stores in Myeong-dong, central Seoul, and Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.
The North Face T-shirts feature old Korean characters that are no longer in use. Before the invention of the Korean writing system, Hangeul, in 1443, traditional Hanja characters were the sole writing system in Korea.
