SEOUL, June 4 (AJU PRESS) - Jin of boy band Bangtan Boys, also known as BTS, will make his return to fans next week after completing his mandatory military service for 18 months.

He will be discharged from the military on June 12 and will meet fans in Seoul the following day, his management agency HYBE said in a press release early this week. June 13 marks the day when the iconic K-pop band made their debut in 2013.

Jin, the eldest of the band, was the first to enlist in the army in December 2022. All seven BTS members are currently serving in the military, with Jin being the first to complete his service. J-Hope is scheduled to be discharged this fall, followed by RM, V, Jimin, and Suga next year. They are expected to reunite in the second half of 2025 and resume their activities.

Meanwhile, there were some controversies over the prerequisites for participating in the upcoming event coinciding with Jin's discharge from the military. Initially, the entertainment behemoth said that admission tickets for the event would only be available to those who purchased every album released after June 2022 through the agency's Weverse membership platform from June 2 to 6, meaning that those who wish to attend the event would need to repurchase the albums, even if they already owned them.

That immediately sparked complaints among BTS fans with many arguing that the agency uses the event to sell more albums. In response, the agency soon revised rules, allowing those who bought Jin's first single " The Astronaut" or BTS's anthology album "Proof" before June 2 to also sign up for the event.

"We adjusted the requirements so that fans can attend the event without having to buy more albums," HYBE said.

Nevertheless, controversies remain as fans still need to purchase albums to attend the event. There are also concerns about safety, particularly as Jin plans to hug 1,000 fans as part of the event.

"We will do our best to ensure the safety of the event," HYBE vowed.
