"We are reviewing various measures to enhance our drone capabilities, including buying weapons from abroad," the ministry said. "Polish drones are being used in actual combat, so we want to assess their suitability for our military operations."
Warmate, a long-range loitering munition, also known as a suicide drone, used by Ukraine in its war against Russia, has reportedly piqued the interest of the Korean military, due to its effectiveness in destroying Russian radars.
Poland reportedly asked Korea to buy its drones during a meeting between Defense Minister Shin Won-sik and his Polish counterpart Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in Warsaw last month.
Poland has purchased weapons worth 28 trillion won ($20.2 billion) from Korea over the past two years. The Polish drone market is projected to grow by 3.36 percent from 2024 to 2029, according to global data platform Statista.
