SEOUL, July 18 (AJU PRESS) - Amorepacific, a leading South Korean cosmetics company, has received top honors for its carbon neutrality efforts at a prestigious national awards ceremony.

The company was awarded the Carbon Neutrality Grand Prize and Minister of Environment Award at the 27th Energy Winner Awards, organized by the Citizens' Organization for Consumer Protection of Korea. Amorepacific became the first to receive the highest recognition in the Carbon Neutrality Winner category for corporate activities rather than products, a category introduced in 2022 to address climate change concerns.

Since declaring its 2030 sustainability goals in 2021, Amorepacific has implemented a comprehensive strategy to transition all operations to renewable energy by 2025. The company has achieved significant greenhouse gas reductions through energy conservation, solar power installations and renewable energy procurement. Key production facilities in Osan and Daejeon in Korea and Shanghai in China now operate on 100 percent renewable energy.

Amorepacific has also established a plastic circular model using a 4R (Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, Return) strategy for packaging, reducing new petroleum-derived plastic use by 1,900 tons in 2023. The company said it will continue leading various carbon neutrality initiatives centered around its sustainability goals, reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship in the cosmetics industry.
