Pollster Realmeter surveyed 2,513 people aged 18 and older across the country last week and found that some 29.6 percent feel Yoon is doing a good job, a decline of 0.4 percentage points from the previous week and is the second-lowest level since he took office in May 2022.
It also marked the first time in nearly two years that his approval rating has fallen into the 20-percent range, with the previous instance being in the first week of August 2022, when it was at 29.3 percent.
It fell 4.2 percentage points among people in their 50s and older who are his main support base, and 3.3 percentage points among those in their 30s.
Realmeter said, "The plunge seems to stem from a crisis in emergency rooms at hospitals" amid the prolonged walkouts by trainee doctors protesting the government's radical reform plans over the admission quotas of medical schools.
