The leading Korean construction company was selected in February as the preferred bidder for a project to build two additional nuclear reactors at the Kozloduy nuclear power complex.
During his visit on Monday, the minister met with Hyundai E&C CEO Yoon Young-joon. They reviewed the project's progress and discussed related social overhead capital cooperation. They also agreed to sign an engineering contract in October, Hyundai said.
In June, Yoon visited Sofia and met with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and other high-level officials.
"Starting with Bulgaria, Hyundai E&C will strive to expand its presence in nuclear power construction across Europe and continue to create opportunities for involvement in related industrial infrastructure projects," the company said.
