The Korean battery maker introduced its Samsung Battery Box (SBB) 1.5, a containerized ESS solution featuring improved energy density and an enhanced fire suppression system. The new model boasts a 37 percent increase in energy density compared to its predecessor, storing 5.26 megawatt-hours per unit.
Samsung SDI also presented a high-output battery for uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, set for mass production next year. The company claims the new UPS battery offers over 40 percent higher output per rack than existing products and requires about one-ninth of the installation space needed for lead-acid batteries.
The firm displayed its lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery for ESS applications and highlighted its environmental initiatives, including participation in the RE100 renewable energy campaign.
"A significant growth is anticipated for the ESS market as the renewable energy sector expands and demand for data centers surges in line with the accelerating AI revolution," said Choi Yoon-ho, president and CEO of Samsung SDI.
