SEOUL, September 09 (AJP) - The 2024 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Summer Finals electrified Gyeongju over a thrilling weekend. This, Korea's premier esports tournament, saw over 30,000 fans descend upon the city for a vibrant fan festival and a nail-biting finals series.
The pinnacle match, broadcast globally in seven languages, captivated a peak audience of approximately 4 million viewers – a testament to LCK's enduring reign as Korea's most popular esports league for a staggering 12 years.
Tickets for the semifinals and finals, available through Interpark last month, vanished in a flash, highlighting the immense popularity of the LCK. The stage was set for a legendary clash between titans. Defending champions Gen.G Esports, hungry for a historic fifth LCK title, faced off against resurgent Hanwha Life Esports, eager to reclaim their glory after an eight-year absence from the finals.
In a heart-stopping five-game series, Hanwha Life Esports toppled the giants. Through a captivating display of skill and resilience, they dethroned Gen.G and secured their first LCK championship in eight years.
