SEOUL, September 30 (AJP) - A special event featuring several performances and exhibitions to promote the UAE's heritage and culture took place over the weekend on Nami Island, a tiny island near Chuncheon, Gangwon Province.
In cooperation with the UAE Embassy in Korea, the three-day event, hosted by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, an educational institution in the Middle Eastern country, started with an opening ceremony last Friday and was attended by a group of visitors and distinguished guests including UAE Ambassador to Korea Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi and Chuncheon Mayor Yook Dong-han.
One of the highlights of the opening ceremony was a sculpture symbolizing Sharjah, one of the seven emirates of the UAE, which was presented to the island. The beautifully crafted artwork perfectly complemented the island's natural beauty and picturesque setting.
"Through this event, we aim to share the rich heritage of the UAE with the people of Korea. We also hope to build a cultural bridge between the two countries, fostering mutual understanding and respect for each other's traditions and values," the institute explained.
The institute expressed its hope for continually increasing cultural exchanges between the two countries, which "will pave the way for stronger ties in education, arts, and heritage, promoting long-lasting collaboration."
