SEOUL, October 15 (AJP) - Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun met with Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov in Beijing on Monday, where both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, a friendship that has stood the test of time and grown stronger, according to Dong.

Dong praised the China-Russia relationship, highlighting that it has reached an all-time high under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During the meeting, Dong emphasized that the mutual trust and practical cooperation between the two nations serve as a model for major-country relations. He called for the Chinese and Russian militaries to follow the guidance of their leaders, deepen strategic coordination, enhance the quality of cooperation, advance military relations, safeguard shared interests, and maintain global strategic stability.

Belousov, in turn, noted that military cooperation between Russia and China is a key factor in preserving global and regional peace and stability. He expressed Russia's readiness to work closely with China, implement the consensus reached by the two leaders, and continue improving the level and quality of cooperation to address security challenges and elevate bilateral military ties.

On Oct. 2, Xi reaffirmed his commitment to working with Putin to build on the 75 years of diplomatic ties and further expand practical cooperation, as conveyed in a congratulatory message to mark the anniversary.
