SEOUL, October 24 (AJP) - Farmers stacked newly harvested rice in front of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation headquarters in Seoul on Thursday, protesting falling rice prices.

The farmers, led by the Korean Peasants League and the National Rice Farmers Association, demanded that cooperative chairman, Kang Ho-dong, fulfill his promise of guaranteeing 70,000 won per 40kg of rice.

Despite reduced harvests due to adverse weather conditions and pests this year, rice prices continue to decline, prompting farmers to call for immediate price stabilization measures.
