SEOUL, November 12 (AJP) - Experts and academics shared their valuable insights on North Korean human rights as well as other relevant topics such as tasks and challenges for reunification between the two Koreas at a forum held at Ajou University in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province on Monday.

Co-hosted by the National Institute for Unification Education and the Ajou Institute for Unification, the forum drew over 100 participants.

The forum's key speakers raised awareness of North Koreans' daily hardships and struggles as well as human rights violations by the North Korean regime. They also discussed strategies for reunification amid the current stalemate in inter-Korean relations.

"This forum was meaningful as participants, particularly young students, actively engaged in discussions and freely shared their thoughts on reunification and other issues," said Han Ki-ho, a professor at the institute. "As the institute is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary next year, we will continue to work with future generations to formulate strategies for reunification and prepare for it," he added.

"More and more South Koreans are no longer enthusiastic about reunification between the two Koreas. I believe this forum served as a valuable opportunity to discuss a vision for reunification..... and explore diverse perspectives and approaches to North Korean issues," said Lee Youn-seek at the Yeouido Institute, a think tank affiliated with the ruling People Power Party.
