SEOUL, December 2 (AJP) - Colombian Ambassador to Seoul Alejandro Peláez Rodríguez expressed optimism about the upcoming launch of AJP, a new English-language news outlet, believing it could be a transformative force in the sphere of global media, in an interview with Aju Business Daily last month.

"I hope AJP will break away from traditional news reporting and instead focus on uncovering uncharted countries and their unique stories," he said. "It is also important to convey diverse stories and explore the unknown."

Peláez said he opts for local news channels and sources, rather than mainstream media or international news networks, as he views them to be more reliable sources of information.

When asked what needs to be covered more for global readers regarding South Korea, he stressed the country's flourishing culture.

"Fueled by the surging popularity of K-pop in the global market, South Korea is experiencing a cultural renaissance, drawing attention to its rich historical heritage and literary traditions," he said.

He also expressed hope that AJP will serve its role by delivering news stories that convey each country's unique characteristics, historical backgrounds, and contemporary trends.

Regarding potential news coverage specific to his country, Peláez cited the South American country's biological diversity. "Colombia boasts a vibrant ecosystem with over 50,000 animal and plant species, ranking second globally in biodiversity," he said.

Regarding the vision for AJP, "By utilizing innovative technologies and diverse platforms along with interactive communication channels, I believe AJP will prosper, transcending geographical boundaries and connecting with readers across regions," he advised.

Based in Seoul, AJP, set for its official launch on Tuesday, is dedicated to delivering Asia's voice to readers worldwide. It aims to keep readers informed with accurate and unbiased news stories, providing comprehensive coverage of current events and phenomena along with in-depth analysis, in partnership with major news organizations across Asia, a region comprising some 49 countries.
