SEOUL, December 4 (AJP) - Kim Kwang-jip, CEO of Studio Meta-K, predicts artificial intelligence will play an increasingly vital role in K-content production, ushering in an era where virtual humans star in songs, advertisements, dramas, and films.

Speaking at the launch event of news platform AJP at the FKI Tower in Seoul's Yeouido on Tuesday, Kim showcased various AI-powered content initiatives. His company, Studio Meta-K, specializes in developing and producing IP-based content using AI technology.

One of the company's flagship projects is Season, a virtual K-pop group consisting of four members representing each season: iaaa (Spring), Suvi (Summer), Brown (Fall), and Han (Winter). Each virtual member has been assigned specific roles within the group and even personality traits based on the popular MBTI personality test.

Season has already released digital singles including "Our Season" and "SUNCREAM," with its members appearing in various festivals, including Waterbomb Seoul 2024, as well as films and music videos.

The creation of virtual human content involves multiple technologies, including digital doubles and game engines, to achieve realistic appearances and natural movements. The company also employs deepfake technology to produce high-quality content quickly and cost-effectively.

"Generative AI can significantly reduce production time and costs by eliminating unnecessary procedures," Kim explained. "We can skip location scouting, interviews, and extensive editing processes, focusing instead on scriptwriting and core production phases."

The company reports that AI implementation in computer graphics and visual effects can reduce related costs by about 25 percent. Combined with other savings, including 5-6 percent in casting fees, the total production cost reduction is estimated at around 10 percent.

Studio Meta-K has contracted eight producers and nine writers with extensive industry experience to ensure cost-effective content production. "This system will foster an independent and creative production environment that doesn't rely solely on star writers and actors," Kim said.
