Istanbul, December 13 (AJP) - STRATCOM 2024, held on Friday at Istanbul’s Rixos Tersane Resort, brought together around 3,000 visitors, including officials, diplomats, scholars, and media leaders. The forum, themed “AI in Communication: Trends, Risks, and Transformations,” examined the promises and challenges of artificial intelligence in reshaping communication.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized Istanbul’s role as a global hub and addressed AI’s transformative potential. “Artificial intelligence offers vast opportunities but also amplifies global challenges like disinformation and manipulation. We must advocate for ethics, justice, and conscience in its use,” he said. He expressed confidence in the forum’s ability to inspire meaningful discussions and open new horizons for the communication sector.

Vice President Dr. Cevdet Yılmaz expanded on the need for responsible AI. “AI can only serve humanity if it operates within a well-regulated, legal, and ethical framework reinforced by human institutions and norms,” he said. He highlighted projections that AI could contribute $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030 while stressing the need to address data privacy, cybersecurity risks, and ethical challenges.
