Han's conversation with Ishiba came after his phone call with U.S. President Joe Biden last weekend.
During their talks which lasted about 20 minutes, Han assured Ishiba that the country's state affairs including diplomatic and security policies would be managed without disruptions in accordance with the Constitutional law and order, despite the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol over his abrupt declaration of martial law earlier this month.
Han and Ishiba discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and agreed to work closely as the two countries prepare for the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.
The two also stressed the need for trilateral coordination including the U.S. to cope with North Korea's deepening ties with Russia.
Ishiba, who took office in October, had planned to visit Seoul early next year but canceled his trip amid the ongoing political turmoil in South Korea.
