LAS VEGAS, January 7 (AJP) - SK Telecom showcased its personal AI agent, Aster, on Tuesday at CES 2025, announcing plans to launch a beta service for North American users in March.

Designed to streamline users' lives, Aster boasts a range of capabilities, from preliminary research and planning to task execution. The AI can manage schedules, create to-do lists, and offer proactive suggestions.

For instance, when a user in Las Vegas queries, "I have no plans for my last day, what should I do?" Aster can propose activities like shopping, dining, or attending shows.

It then crafts a detailed itinerary, including restaurant and transport recommendations, and even assists with reservations and payments.

To enhance its functionality, SK Telecom plans to collaborate with other AI agents and integrate services like the conversational search platform, Purplecity, into Aster.

Beginning at CES 2025, SK Telecom will recruit participants for the beta service. A full U.S. launch is expected later this year, with expansion to other countries planned for 2026.

“Unlike existing AI services that simply provide answers, Aster is an agent AI capable of carrying out tasks, offering a distinctive experience for users,” said Chung Seok-geun, head of SK Telecom’s GPAA (global personal AI agent) division.
