SEOUL, January 18 (AJP) -- South Korea's Ediya Coffee has partnered with Laos' largest private company, Kolao Group, to expand into Southeast Asian markets.

The coffee chain signed a master franchise agreement Thursday with Grandview Property, a Kolao affiliate, to enter Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.

Ediya Chairman Moon Chang-ki and Kolao Chairman Oh Se-young attended the signing at Kolao's headquarters in Vientiane.

The company plans to open its first Laos store by June, followed by expansion into Cambodia and Myanmar.

Kolao, founded in 1997, operates in automobiles, finance, distribution and food sectors, and will provide local expertise and networks for Ediya's market entry.

Laos' coffee market is growing with its economic development, Ediya said. Korea's cultural influence has increased demand for Korean coffee brands in Southeast Asia.

The company will offer menu items tailored to local tastes while introducing popular Korean options.

Ediya opened stores in Guam and Malaysia last year and exports products including instant mixes, beans and capsules to 23 countries, including the United States.
