Clean Country announced on June 17 that it recently partnered with the social contribution network Happy Alliance to engage in volunteer activities focused on upcycling used toys in celebration of Environmental Month.
Environmental Month was established following the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment held in Stockholm, Sweden, in June 1972, which aimed to promote international cooperation for the preservation of the global environment. South Korea has officially recognized June 5 as a commemorative day since 1996.
This volunteer effort marks the first joint activity since Clean Country established a cooperative framework with Happy Alliance in May.
About 20 employees from Clean Country and members of the Seoul Youth Planning Volunteer Group, known as Project Rebirth, participated in the initiative. They disassembled used toys and sorted plastic materials. The collected plastics will be sent to the social enterprise Elephant Factory, where they will be transformed into various products, including umbrellas, mats, and thermal bags.
Clean Country plans to conduct resource recycling volunteer activities at least once a year and will incorporate these efforts into its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance management. The scope of collaboration with Happy Alliance will also be expanded.
A representative from Clean Country stated, "We aim to enhance employee participation in environmental practices through this initiative and contribute to fostering a sustainable resource recycling culture."
